Organisms
Now lets look at the different organisms in the park.

This picture shows two hibiscus of different colour . How beautifull are they ? limitless! These hibiscus is the genus of flowering plants in the mallow family Malvaceae . Their scientific name is hibiscus scotti and their rank is genus in the environment. When park users keep throwing rubbish these beautifull flowers will be gone!!! Will park users stop ??

The tiny mushroomgrew in some parts of the grass pacth. A mushroom is the fleshy spore bearing parts of a gungus. This means it  helps in the reproduction and cycle, its scientific name is agaricus bisporus imagine those irresponsible park users who throw plastic and rubbish that may prevent the mushrooms from getting food and kill it ... imagine one point of time THEY WERE NOT AROUND ANYMORE!!!!!
What a cute squirrel!! we were lucky enough to capture a picture of it .Squirrels belong to a large family of small or medium-sized rodents called the Sciuridae. The family includes tree squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots, flying squirrels, and prairie dogs. its scientific name is sciuridae and its rank is family. These cute little things love to munch on fruits and seeds but what will happen when we cut trees down ???? will there be food for squirrels??? and if there are trees remaining do they have fruits.. we do not know but all in all we know their number are decreasing drastically.

Wow !! such a rare sight !! a monitor lizard !! Monitor lizards are generally large reptiles, although some can be as small as 20 centimetres in length. They have long necks, powerful tails and claws, and well-developed limbs. Their scientific name is vanarus and rank is genus. Recent studies have shown that they consume mostly termites millepedes ansd scorpions. They are small creatures and live in trees so the more trees we cut down HOW WILL THE MONITOR LIZARDS BE ABLE TO SURVIVE?????

This is an example of how badly trees are affected see this barren tree poor old tree!

These is the picture of the underside of the rock this is a mixture of snail eggs and an unknown species of fungi.Snail eggs are the most impotant for the snails if we destroy them for example litter hits onto the rock ... we will be destroying on the whole the place we call home mother earth.

WE SHOULD REALLY STOP LITTERING AND CUTTING DOWN TREES!!!

Impact of Man on Jurong Lake Park

Hi everyone! As you know, a park is a place where people usually go for a walk or exercise. Park should be clean and green as it is a place that belongs to the community. However, People start to cause impact on the park! We should stop them and teach them the proper way to treat the park.

First common thing that most people do is littering. There are so many rubbish bins in the park but people just throw their litters on the ground even the lake.

The fishes in the lake may choke on the litter as they might think that it is a food. If more litter is thrown into the lake, more fishes will die and the lake will become very polluted and smelly. Those inconsiderate people should be punished for littering in the park. I think the Town Council should put more rubbish bins in case the people lazy to find a rubbish bin.

Poor Tree !! part of this tree was cut down.. This tree is actually a very big tree before it was cut down however now all the organisms living in the tree are dead.. birds spiders ants insects and many thousands of organism naked to our eyes!!!We should know the importance of trees and stop cutting them down!

See how extremely dirty the water is !The water once drinked by organisms may cause DEATH OR EVEN DISEASES .. we are again destroying the anvironment again...
If there are non-biodegradable materials in the environment destroy the habitats, pollute the environment and damage the eco-system which will cause a LOT OF DAMAGE !!. There are also trees have been  cut down. This will affect the environment as animals or plants that depend on or live in the tree may die. Trees help us remove the carbon dioxide in the air and produce the oxygen needed for breathing, so why CUT DOWN TREES ??

  • PLASTIC HARMFULLNESS.

  • Plastic degradation at sea takes between 45-1000 years.

  • Usually though, plastic bags don't biodegrade. They photo-degrade. Which means they break up into smaller pieces of plastic until eventually becoming plastics dusts.

  • Plastic which ends up in the sea (through garbage dumps at seaside, river flow etc) winds up becoming food for marine life that mistake it for food especially of the jellyfish variety.

  • Plastics bags have been found in the stomachs of endangered animals including the leatherback turtles, harbour porpoises and black footed albatross. Ingestion (swallowing) of plastic bags can result in blockages, internal infections, starvation and death.

  • These occur in deserts as well (garbage dumpsites in deserts) where camels and other desert wildlife have been found dead with plastic ingestion.

  • If animals don't die from plastic ingestion, they pollute the food chain instead. After all, we are the ones eating fish and meat.

  • Moreover, it takes about 430,000 gallons of oil to produce 100 million non-degradable plastic bags. And we use 4 trillion to 5 trillion plastic bags worldwide annually. That's using up oil sources without recycling them.

  • Recycling cost of plastic bags: it takes 250 bags to make 1 kilo of plastic - making recycling economically unviable. Furthermore, plastic is made of recycled materials, making them difficult to be further recycled. Burning plastic results in air pollution and toxic ash.

  • ISNT THESE SCARY!!! SO WE SHOULD STOP LITTERING!!

    Group reflection

This is our group refection . Going to the park was a fun and exiting experience for us. We saw a lot of unique plants and animals we were awestruck by the beauty of the park and realised the importance of the park. Flowers were everywhere scattered around in different sparkling colours. However the whole scenic nature park was destroyed by the ignorant carefree and irresponsibe park users who threw rubbish and polluted the whole environment. We should learn to appreciate nature and not destroy it . Everyone can do a part so lets start moving !! TOGETHER LETS SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT !
     JURONG LAKE PARK

Hi everyone! So a few days ago i and my fellow friends went for a short trip to Jurong Lake Park! We were so excited ! However when we got there we deeply felt sad seeing the destruction man has made to the park . Here is a short introduction on Jurong Lake.

Jurong Lake Park is a 70 hecters freshwater lake and reservoir located in the western region of Singapore formed with the damming of Sungei Jurong further downstream. The lake serves as a reservoir contributing to the water supply of the country. It lies next to the Lakeside MRT Station, which derived its name from this geographical feature

The lake is surrounded by parkland, which serves as a recreational ground for nearby residents in Jurong East and Jurong West New Towns. A landscaped sanctuary called Jurong Lake Park was builtaround the perimeter of the lake and work was completed in January 2006. Also, a 2.8 kilometre water promenade along Jurong Lake Park would allow residents to participate in watersports.
The water is noted to be green in colour during dry weather and a murky brown after a downpour, the likely result of runoff from its urban catchment area

The lake came into prominence in 2002 when a 3-year old boy slipped out of his mum's grasp and fell into a flooded drain which led to Sungei Lanchar during a thunderstorm. His lifeless body was subsequently found in the lake after a search operation two days after the incident.
